Each one of us has a story to tell that is worth telling. The issue arises as to how to get started, and, as importantly, what to say.
Most people see the task of writing as daunting, but I like to see writing not as a task but as an adventure!
I like to suggest that all you have to do is write that first sentence and then you have an unfinished manuscript! It’s the easiest way to get started…just write that first sentence. You can come back the next day, or in an hour or a minute and add more to it. You have begun!
As regards what to write, put down what you know, what you love, or what you conjure up in your mind, or your fantasies, or what you feel is important to say.
In your long life, you have had many memorable experiences, some good, some bad. It’s your choice to choose.
I enjoy rereading writers I’ve enjoyed in the past, not so much to hear their story again, but to examine how they said it.
As regards how to write, if you enjoy reading, you have a road map to how to write by examining writers whose work you have enjoyed. Go back and examine how they did it!
Good luck and get started. Remember, it only takes that first sentence to become a writer.
