We have been busy advocating for the end of the Social Security Windfall protection. Congratulations to all of you Social Security holders in getting some back payments and an increase in your Social Security benefits. I received my back payment of over $6500 along with a monthly increase of over $250 per month in my Social Security.
Kathy Jasper has been busy with Joe Biden in asking him to sign the end of the penalty for earning Cal Strs and Social Security. He ended the windfall protection of Social Security which penalizes those who received payments from Cal Strs and do not receive Social Security. Well Joe Biden, before he left, took care of us. I understand those late in the alphabet have not received the retroactive benefits yet. Be patient; they will get to you eventually. Although with the reduction of our bureaucracy by Donald Trump, this delay may be more delayed.
Our Treasurer Leslie Rice has been busy with our Scholarships to San Jose City College and Evergreen Valley College students and she also acted as our delegate to the biennial CFT Convention. She will have a report to you in this newsletter as to what the CFT is doing for our retirees.
I was also recently elected to the West Valley Mission Community College District as a Trustee in the last election which occured on Nov, 5, 2024. I was sworn in on Dec.18, 2024. So I am staying busy in my retirement.
