Prez Sez: Oct 2025

We are in a huge conflict with the President and his agenda. Fortunately we are in California, a progressive haven for the entire country. We should be an example for other states to follow since we – California – are the 4th largest economy in the world. We hold our own when it comes to our economy; we are progressive and pay the highest minimum wages in the entire country. This is an admirable position to have. Nevertheless, we can’t just take advantage of this reality but must lead other progressive states to follow.

Our retiree group is still influential with the South Bay Labor Council (SBLC) having two Executive Board members namely Kathy Jasper our Secretary of the AFT 6157 Retirees and myself as a Trustee to the Executive Board. We have a say in the decisions of the SBLC. We are using this to our retirees’ benefit too.

We will be having a Mexico Lindo celebration on Nov. 7. Pay your annual dues of $30 for FT and $10 for Associates. And get two free tickets to our next celebration at Mexico Lindo Restaurant. See you at Mexico Lindo on Nov. 7 at noon. I heard that the recent book published by Walt Soellner is a good read and well written. I think our VP will have some extra copies of his recent book at the Mexico Lindo event on Nov. 7 at noon. The Treasurer is doing a great job of counting and spending our money. Keep up the good work Leslie.
