On Thursday, September 17th, Jory Segal and Doug Robb, representing AFT6157, Paul Fong representing AFT6157R and Mission/West Valley Board of Directors, and Kathy Jasper, representing AFT6157R, attended Working Partnerships’ Gala at the Downtown San Jose Marriott. Working Partnerships honors “the leaders and movements protecting our people, showing up for their neighbors, and speaking truth to power, inspiring all of us to show up with courage, joy, and defiance.” They raise money to support the candidates of the South Bay Labor Council.
This year US Representative Ro Khanna was given an award because “he continuously fights side by side with the labor movement to enact policies that help and protect working families.” The Rapid Response Network and David Huerta of SEIU USWW were also honored for their defense of our immigrant and undocumented communities and their support of the labor movement.
Doug Robb, who plans to retire from San Jose City College next year, is running for election to the Mission/West Valley Board of Directors. He was there to connect with people to help him get elected.
It was an inspiring evening that shows what great accomplishments can be achieved when we work together.
