Passing of Henry Gee

Message from Byron Breland, Chancellor of San José/Evergreen Community College District:

It is with a heavy heart that we inform you of the passing of Henry Gee, a long-time Evergreen Valley College faculty member. Henry passed on the evening of October 2, 2019 and was an integral part of the EVC family for nearly 35 years.

Henry was first hired as an adjunct, teaching Law courses in the Business department in 1985. He was hired full-time in 1990 as a General Business Instructor. Henry served as Past President of the Faculty Association (now AFT 6157), he served as President of the EVC Academic Senate and he was the Vice President of Administrative Services at EVC from 2011-2015. Most recently Henry was a full-time instructor in the Business Department. Henry had a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Pepperdine University and a Juris Doctorate Degree from Santa Clara University.

Henry has been described as having the biggest heart, always smiling and always caring. He was also described as someone who gave his heart and soul to EVC. Mark Gonzales, Vice President of Academic Affairs said, “Henry loved EVC and he worked tirelessly year after year to improve our institution. He was not afraid to try new things and he inspired all of his students in and out of the classroom.”

Henry will be missed. Please keep his family in your thoughts as they go through this difficult time.

Information on burial services will be shared as soon as it is made available.
